Art Specifications & Upload

Our Graphic Design Team can take your label or graphic overlay from a thought to a finished product. However, most companies supply their own art to us. If you are uncertain about the type of art required, please give us a call and we can help you. Our art preferences appear below. Please contact us about a password to move your art from your computer to ours via FTP.

OUR ART PREFERENCES

On a daily basis we work with many different file types. This is a list of the most common types used.

Listed in Preferred order:

  1. Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand are the two preferred applications in which we prepare artwork. All placed or linked images must be included and of high enough quality to satisfactorily reproduce on press. These images should be a minimum of 350 dpi at 100%, higher is better (we output our film at 2400 dpi and our digital press outputs at 2400 dpi, just as a reference point). Photo images should be in CMYK. All text should either be outlined, converted to curves or converted to paths. We utilize Macintosh computers. If the artwork is created on a PC, we prefer that the fonts be vectorized.
  2. Layout Programs: QuarkXpress, InDesign and Pagemaker are more difficult to work with in the screen and flexographic printing operations. If this is what is available, it is best to save the file as the native application rather that an .eps. Also remember to include all placed or linked images (at a minimum of 350 dpi and in CMYK) and outline all text when possible.
  3. Photoshop: Flatten the file. All images should be in CMYK and at least 350 dpi with a minimum of a 1/16” bleed included. We can work with uncompressed tiff, .eps, .png, .psd, High Resolution jpeg or .pdf.
  4. Corel Draw: All text should be converted to curves and then saved as an Illustrator file (.ai).
  5. AutoCad: Be sure to include all fonts used. Export as .tiff or .eps.
  • Illustrator and Freehand are the easiest to work with.
  • For Screen and Flexo work - Any vectored application is highly preferable.
  • If you wish us to have the ability to change vectorized files (text), please provide fonts.
