Both thermal transfer labels and direct thermal labels can be used to imprint data at your facility. Thermal printing is high quality, durable and eliminates the need for a protective laminate.

  • Thermal transfer labels rely on a ribbon that’s heated via print head to transfer the data onto each label.
  • Direct thermal labels rely on a (1) a print head, and (2) specialty stock that turns black when the correct temperature is reached. No ribbon is needed when using direct thermal stock. Remember, thermal transfer is slightly more durable than direct thermal in most applications.

Thermal labels are offered in a variety of materials, including polyester and paper. This type of printing is ideal for barcode labels, since the durability and clarity of the printing on Label-Aid thermal labels facilitates accurate, efficient barcode scanning.
