Our Digital Graphic Overlay Properties
Label-Aid’s digital graphic overlays can be printed on various substrates, and our printing parametars are 12-in x 18-in sheet size with an 11-in x 17-in print size.
Here are some common features:
- Top substrate, usually made of polycarbonate or polyester, which is five to 30 mils thick
- Sub-surface ink graphics that are color-matched using the latest computer technology
- Expert die cutting to critical tolerances
- Applied adhesive custom-selected for optimum surface adherence
Most of our graphic overlays are sub-surface printed to fully protect the graphics from (1) top-surface abrasion, (2) contamination via spills, grease, moisture, chemicals and dust, and (3) weathering and UV damage.
UV inhibitors may be added to your material selection to increase label life in outdoor or high-light applications and UL materials are available. Your custom Label-Aid digitally printed overlays and front panels can be manufactured from the following materials:
- Polycarbonate
- Polyester (more durable, more chemical resistant, more crack resistant, allowing for many more actuations than polycarbonate)
- Various hard-coat, scratch-resistant materials
- Polycarbonate (LEXAN™ 8010/8A35/8B35 — 8,500–9,000 psi tensile, 80–91% light transmission, 307°F glass transition) prints crisply for photographic-quality graphics.
- Polyester (Dura-Go™ — 14,286–22,857 psi tensile, –20°F to 302°F service range) holds digital ink registration through repeated flexing and chemical exposure.
- Hard-coat films (Dura-Go HP12W) add Taber abrasion resistance below 1% Δhaze for high-touch digital overlay applications.
